What is the Difference between Proofreading and Story Editing?

Proofreading-service-the-script-joint
Screenwriting is a craft that demands precision, clarity, and creativity. Each word, in each scene carries weight. Understanding the role of proofreading is vital. It involves checking for grammatical errors, punctuation, and spelling mistakes. However, story editing dives deeper. It's about assessing pacing, plot progression, character development, and overall narrative structure.

Both proofreading and story editing are critical to successful screenwriting. While proofreading focuses on the surface, story editing delves into the heart of your story.
Getting your screenplay edited and proofread can elevate your script from good to great.  It can be the difference between a script that simply reads well and one that captivates audiences.

A great screenwriter knows both proofreading and story editing are invaluable tools in their writing arsenal.
After your screenplay has been edited, consider getting our script proofreading service.

This proofreading service is for scripts that demonstrate a good grasp of the English sentence structure and industry script format. Our clients include repped screenwriters and some of Amazon's bestselling authors who are crossing over to screenwriting.

We also proofread novels and faith-based screenplays. Price is based on the total word count of the script. We help writers and filmmakers worldwide -- including those residing in Australia, New Zealand, Zambia, France, India, Brazil, Colombia and many other countries.

Please email us at [email protected] if you have novels (fiction and non-fiction) that you would like to submit for proofreading service so that we could give you the estimated turnaround time to proofread them.  All scripts must be submitted via email as digital files. See the acceptable "File Types" listed below. Proofreading does not involve copyediting (checking for continuity).  Proofreaders are not the same as copyeditors. Here are the key features of our script proofreading service:
  • Correcting spelling mistakes.
  • Correcting grammar mistakes.
If you are unsure how to enter the total word count of your script at checkout, just email your script to [email protected] and we'll email you a simple e-invoice to place your order online.

Unlocking the Screenwriter's Toolbox: Proofreading vs. Story Editing

Before you show your film or TV script to a producer, director, or literary agent, use our professional proofreading service. The condition of your script reflects your work ethics. When they read your script, the words in your script will make a statement about who you are as a screenwriter. If you submit a script that contains typos and grammar errors to producers, you will end up developing weak relationships with them. Always present yourself as a professional screenwriter if you want to be taken seriously. Every word counts in a screenplay. Therefore, get started today. Get our script proofreading service.
