Script Doctor Initial Script Assessment Service

If you’ve been tirelessly rewriting your script without success in getting it optioned, maybe it’s time to consider our script rewriting service that can breathe new life into your story. First, start with our Script Doctor Initial Script Assessment service. It will allow us to assess the rewriting required, give you a price quote, and inform you of the estimated turnaround time for the rewrite. Our assessment service also comes with detailed scene-specific notes from our script doctor, who has rewritten scripts that received production deals with budgets starting at $1 million and up.

We work with clients worldwide, including filmmakers, writers, and production companies based in London/the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, and the UAE (United Arab Emirates).

A script doctor is a screenwriter who is hired by a film/TV production company or an independent producer to do uncredited work to further develop the story. This often involves ghostwriting/rewriting to enhance various aspects of a script, including characterization, structure, dialogue, pacing, scene descriptions, and themes.

Every script project is unique. The time required to complete a rewrite will be different from project to project. The number of rounds of rewriting a script needs will depend on factors such as the complexity of the story and its current condition. For example, a story with a large cast of characters will often require multiple rounds of rewriting to finetune the characters, dialogue, theme(s), and plot. Some scripts may require only a single round of rewriting, while others might need several round.

For those who are new to screenwriting, script doctors are screenwriters who are hired to fix (ghost co-write) certain aspects in a script (screenplay) such as reshaping a character's role in the story and/or streamlining the plot. Script doctors are given the creative license to do rewrites to refine or modify the story, themes, and other elements in the script.

We evaluate all types of film/TV scripts. They include thrillers, dark comedies, Westerns, faith-based stories, war stories, dystopian sci-fi, based on true stories, and historical dramas. Our clients include novelists, directors, producers, and screenwriters represented by literary and talent agencies.

Does your script need a round of script rewriting? If you want to know how much it would cost for our script doctor to do one round of rewriting on your script, submit your script here for the initial evaluation. In order for us to determine how much it would cost to rewrite your film or TV script, we would need to schedule time to read and assess the condition of your script.

Therefore, the first step is for you to order our Script Doctor Initial Script Assessment service. The maximum page count per script must not exceed 120 pages. This script doctor assessment service will enable us to gauge how much rewriting your script needs and how long it would take us to do 1 round of rewriting on your script.

Here’s what you’ll receive from our Script Doctor Initial Script Assessment service:

  1. The price for one round of Script Doctoring (Rewriting) on your script.
  2. The estimated turnaround time to complete one round of rewriting.
  3. Between 1 to 7 pages of script feedback, highlighting the key weak elements in the story and identifying any main characters that require further development. The length of the feedback may vary depending on the condition of your script. For instance, if your script has significant plot issues or underdeveloped characters, the feedback will be more extensive than if the script is in better shape.

Note: Your script must be formatted to industry standard. How much rewriting is needed will depend on the current condition of the script. If the script is short and needs to be expanded to feature length, the script doctoring will take more time and require multiple rounds of rewriting. In this case, you would need to purchase each additional round of rewriting separately. For instance, if you need two rounds of rewriting for your script, you will need to purchase two rounds of rewriting services. Additionally, once you submit your script for the initial assessment, we cannot accept any changes or substitutions, so please send the correct version of the script you wish to have assessed. If we have not yet begun reviewing your script and you decide to cancel your order, we will provide a refund, minus a 10% service fee to cover processing costs.

    After Placing Your Order
  1. Within minutes, you should get a confirmation receipt sent to the email that you entered at checkout. Please check your spam folder if you don't see it.
  2. Email your script to [email protected] as the file type of the screenwriting software you used to type the script. You can also send it as a PDF file. But do know that, later on, if you decide to pay for the actual Script Doctoring (rewriting service), you will need to send the script as the "file type" of the screenwriting software you used to type your script. For instance, if you typed your script using Fade In screenwriting software, email the script as a Fade In file type -- not a PDF.
  3. After your script has been scheduled for the script rewrite assessment service, we'll email you the "ready date" of the assessment.

In Hollywood, a production budget of $5 million or below is generally considered low budget in the context of the film and television industry. While exact classifications can vary depending on the scale of the project and the industry standards in different regions, here’s a rough breakdown:

Low Budget: Typically, projects with budgets under $5 million are classified as low budget. These projects often have limited resources and may focus on more cost-effective production techniques.

Mid-Range Budget: Budgets ranging from $5 million to around $30 million are often considered mid-range. These projects can afford higher production values and a broader scope but are still more constrained compared to big-budget films.

High Budget: Budgets exceeding $30 million are generally considered high budget, with major studio productions and blockbuster films often falling into this category.

Keep in mind that these ranges can be flexible and may differ based on the specific industry context and geographic location.
