SCREENPLAY REWRITING SERVICE + 1 ROUND OF EDITING  SERVICE

SCREENPLAY REWRITING SERVICE (1 ROUND OF REWRITE + 1 ROUND OF EDITING)
$
725.00

Get One Round of Rewriting and One Round of Editing for Your Screenplay
This rewriting service comes with one round of rewriting and one round of editing, focusing on improving your screenplay’s plot, pacing, characters, and thematic depth. Each script is unique. Some clients may submit an underdeveloped draft that requires 9 rounds of rewriting, while others may need 3 rounds. We will assess your script during the initial rewrite and provide an estimated price for the next round of rewriting, based on the work required to improve your script further.

Estimated Turnaround Time: 10  business days or more, depending on the complexity of your story, condition of your script, and how much rewriting the script needs.

Please note: This service is intended exclusively for film and television scripts that are properly formatted to industry standards. It is designed for professional screenwriters, particularly those represented by literary agents or managers.
  • This is a rewriting service designed to improve and further develop your story, plot, and characters, which are still underdeveloped, with the plot not yet fully locked down.
Polishing is a more refined process. It’s about taking a script that’s already working and making the small adjustments that will elevate the quality.
  • Polishing is an additional service you can purchase once your script has gone through sufficient rounds of rewriting and the plot has been finalized. After the major changes are made, the polishing service focuses on making minor tweaks to refine dialogue, pacing, and overall flow. We can provide pricing for polishing service after your script has gone through sufficient rounds of rewriting services and the plot has been finalized.

Rewriting is about restructuring and revamping large parts of your script. This process often involves making changes to the plot, character arcs, dialogue, and sometimes even the theme of your story to make it more meaningful.  Rewriting can mean changing major plot points, rearranging scenes, or adjusting character motivations to strengthen the overall narrative. Rewriting is often necessary when the script is still in its early stages and needs substantial development.
Example: If your script has a character who feels one-dimensional, rewriting could involve adding layers to their backstory, changing how they interact with others, or altering their dialogue to make them feel more alive and authentic. You might also rewrite entire scenes to improve the pacing or impact of the story.

We do not accept:
  • Scripts written in novel or prose style that "tell" rather than "show."
  • Scripts with formatting errors or those not written in standard screenplay format.
  • Projects by writers new to screenwriting who have not yet mastered the format or the fundamental differences between screenwriting and novel writing.
Important: We do not offer format correction or conversion from novel-style writing to screenplay format as part of this service. If your film  or TV script is not already in proper script format, we recommend addressing that before using this service.

If you’ve been tirelessly rewriting your script without success in getting it optioned or approved for production, consider using our script rewriting service, and let us further develop your script. To purchase our script rewriting service, please select the page count of your script after clicking the above "View Product" button. This screenplay rewriting service is for screenplays that are written in proper screenplay format. We accept film and TV pilot scripts as well as "shooting" scripts.

You’ll be in good hands with us, as we have experience working on high-budget movie scripts, including those with production budgets ranging from $25 million to $100 million.  Based on our experience working with award-winning filmmakers and producers that also have their movies and TV series on Netflix and Hulu, a script should at least go through 3-5 rounds of rewriting before it goes to pre-production.

  • Never rush your script  into pre-production without doing sufficient rewrites. You don't want to waste time on set filming scenes that don't strengthen the plot and only serve to unnecessarily inflate your production budget.

We’ve worked across a range of genres, including crime thrillers, dark comedies, historical war stories, and high-budget sci-fi/fantasy films.

  • This rewriting service is mainly for production companies and screenwriters who are represented by literary agents or literary managers.
  • Scripts must be properly formatted to industry standards.
  • Proofreading service -- which is priced per word -- is an optional add-on service that can be purchased via e-invoice upon request.

If you are a  repped writer, producer, indie filmmaker, or production company with scripts in development that need further fleshing out, consider using our rewriting service as well.

We've consulted on stories and  rewritten scripts for filmmakers and writers with projects at companies that have worked with established filmmakers like Oscar-winning director-writer Jordan Peele.  Our script rewriting and storytelling skills have been instrumental in helping numerous clients secure book and movie deals with companies such as Lionsgate, CAA, and Fulwel 73.

Some of the scripts that we've rewritten for our clients got picked up by Creative Artists Agency as well as one of the producers from Spike Lee's  "BlacKkKlansman" movie. We’ve had the opportunity to work on scripts that have been greenlit for production, with budgets starting at $1 million and beyond.

If needed, we can also craft your story around a small number of locations to keep it within your estimated production budget as much as possible. The number of rewriting rounds needed for a script will vary depending on the script’s condition and story complexity. If you submit a script that lacks well-developed characters and a compelling plot, you will inevitably need to invest in several rounds of rewriting.

The more rewriting rounds you purchase, the more time we can dedicate to refining your script—tightening the story, developing the characters, and enhancing the scene descriptions. Scene descriptions that are vague or thin can make a script visually unappealing to readers and those you intend to share it with.

If you are new to screenwriting and you use a non-screenwriting software to type your script, you would need to first get our Script Formatting service so that we can properly reformat your script to industry standards. Doing so will also enable you and us to get an accurate page count (movie running time) of the script.

If you need "Rush" service,  email your script to [email protected] and tell us your desired turnaround time so we can let you know if we can take on your project. For rush service, you may need to purchase our Script Dr.'s Initial Assessment service so that we can thoroughly evaluate the condition of your script to determine if we would be able to do a rush service on your script.

Please remember that our Screenplay Rewriting service exclusively focuses on rewriting to improve the story, dialogue, and scene descriptions. It does NOT come with free proofreading service, Q&A follow-up questions, post-rewriting consulting or ongoing feedback services which are separate services with additional costs, copyediting for continuity, reviewing 3rd-party feedback, or correcting formatting errors such as scene headings that the original screenwriter improperly formatted. It's one round of rewriting. After you get the rewritten script back, you can purchase proofreading service or proofread the script yourself if you're on a budget.

This  rewriting service entails 1 round of rewriting. Proofreading service or copyediting service like checking for continuity errors, are not included.  Rewriting time will be spent doing 1 round of rewriting. The focus will be on rewriting to enhance the story, not proofreading the script because this is not a proofreading service. It's a script doctoring (story rewriting) service.

Therefore, we would not be using the time allotted for script rewriting to proofread for grammar or typos. Our price listed is for "rewriting" service -- not "proofreading" service. Proofreading is priced per word.  Similarly, a  proofreader would not be using proofreading time to rewrite your story as that would be outside the scope of proofreading service. If you need proofreading done on the script,  please order Script Proofreading service after we are done with the rewriting. If you’d like to get a sense of the cost for proofreading, we can provide you with an estimate. This estimate will be based on the word count of your script before the rewriting process is finished.

If you are new to screenwriting, please know that this rewriting service is not the same as script proofreading or script "polishing" service. "Rewriting" means a script requires significant changes to the plot, dialogue, and character development.

If your script has underdeveloped characters, limited plot-building/character-building dialogue, and/or an unclear storyline, or an underdeveloped plot, the script will naturally need more than one round of rewriting.

When it comes to rewriting, it’s about injecting energy into the dialogue, deepening the characters, writing in new scenes, amplifying moments to fit the genre, and reimagining scenes to elevate the plot and visual impact—this goes beyond mere polishing.

Rewriting means the script requires significant changes such as rewriting dialogue, scene descriptions, restructuring, and rearranging scenes and writing in new scenes to improve the beginning, middle and ending — all of which require heavy rewriting, more than one round of rewriting. Even Hollywood screenwriters have to do multiple rounds of rewriting before the script gets approved by producers. That's why it takes a movie studio at least more than a year of story development.

Distinguishing between a rewrite and a polish is crucial. According to the Writers Guild of America’s 2023 Schedule of Minimums, the cost for a WGA writer to perform a “polish” on a TV script that is 90 minutes or less is $7,289 for a low budget minimum. If you are new to screenwriting, please know that polishing is not the same a rewriting a script. Polishing  involves some amount of rewriting and touching up -- in terms of the "big picture," but not as intense as full-on rewriting to restructure story, add new scenes, or flesh out underdeveloped characters.

Please note that if your screenplay has an incomplete story, in its very early stages of story development, barebones with just scenes strung together but no clearly defined story direction, it will most likely need to be further expanded into a feature length movie script, we will let you know the pricing for that.

This rewriting service does not mean that we will, for example, take your 30 page or 70 page screenplay and expand it into a feature length screenplay in just one round of rewriting. It requires more work and more rounds of writing to turn a short script or 60-minute TV pilot script into a feature length screenplay as that would also involve extensive story development work and many brainstorming sessions with the producer, director, and/or original screenwriter of the script.

After receiving the rewritten script, you have the option to purchase an additional round of rewriting. This allows you to carefully review the rewritten script and determine if any further changes are desired for the story. Please note that most scripts will require multiple rounds of rewrites to fully flesh out the characters, dialogue, and plot. More characters require more rewriting to fully develop their roles and goals in the story.

Thus, it is important to approach your expectations with a grounded mindset. It takes movie studios at least over a year to meticulously craft and develop a story. Scripts with underdeveloped characters, meandering plots, and unclear themes will naturally require multiple rounds of rewriting.  Please note that if your script is not in the correct film or TV format, or if it's a very rough draft,  consider using our Script Doctor Initial Film/TV Script Assessment service. This way, we can thoroughly review it and provide you with pricing details for our extensive script rewriting and expansion services. If it also needs Script Formatting service, we can bundle both services onto one single invoice for you.

We will not be using time designated for story rewriting to perform proofreading or polishing service such as correcting typos, continuity errors, or any word omissions in the script. After you receive the rewritten script from us, you must proofread it and make any necessary changes before sending it to anyone, like producers, literary managers, agents, or production companies.
Screenplay Rewriting Service

This rewriting service focuses on rewriting to enhance the plot and dialogue, not correcting technical formatting errors like the screenwriter's misuse of V.O.  vs. O.S. in scenes because that would be script formatting service. Our script rewriting service is not an online screenwriting class. This rewriting service will concentrate on rewriting to enhance the story, rather than teaching you over email how to write a screenplay such as explaining to you the rules of screenwriting and script formatting.
We work with clients worldwide, including filmmakers, screenwriters, playwrights, novelists, and production companies from the UK, the UAE, the Netherlands, Africa, Australia, Brazil, India, Hong Kong, Japan, France, Italy, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and various parts of Europe.

Some of the projects we've rewritten or ghostwritten have producers of blockbuster movies and popular TV shows attached. If you want your projects to be greenlit by film investors and producers, you must be willing to put in the effort to get your script in "very fit" condition. It's like training for the Olympics. Going for the gold in screenwriting requires a deep and unwavering commitment.

You’ll be in good hands with us, as we have experience working on high-budget movie scripts, including those with production budgets ranging from $25 million to $100 million.

REWRITING SERVICE DETAILS AND ADD-ON SERVICES

Once we begin work on your script, any significant changes to the story, such as adding a new character or elevating a minor character to a more prominent role, are considered add-on services. These changes would require us to undo portions of the work already completed in the first round of rewriting and then rework the script to incorporate this new character or expanded role. This involves both rewriting existing dialogue and creating new scenes or interactions for the character, which constitutes a second round of rewriting.

As such, any requests to add new characters or significantly alter existing characters after the initial rewrite has begun will be treated as additional services and are subject to additional fees. These changes would require extra time and effort and will be priced according to the new scope of work involved.

After we provide you with a price quote for the add-on service request and you agree to proceed, we will email you an e-invoice for the add-on service before we begin any work on the requested changes.
Please note that add-on services will increase the turnaround time. As these services require additional work, we will need more time to incorporate the new changes, and the final delivery date will be adjusted accordingly.

ADD-ON SERVICE
WANT US TO REVIEW 3RD-PARTY SCRIPT COVERAGE
AND NOTES WITH YOUR SCREENPLAY?

Please note that there is an extra cost if you want us to review script coverage provided by third parties or story notes from producers and literary managers  in order to incorporate some of the suggested changes from the script coverage comments when rewriting your screenplay.

If our schedule allows, we may be  able to review 3rd-party script coverage and producers’ notes as an add-on service. Upon receipt of your coverage and notes, we will email you a price quote. Reading script coverage and notes takes up extra time as the script doctor needs to review the script and the coverage/notes to determine which suggestions would work in the rewrite.

Email your coverage and notes as PDFs to
[email protected] to get a price quote for this add-on service.

CHARACTER ADD-ON SERVICES
If we have already started work on your screenplay and you want new character(s) added to your screenplay, please know this "Character Add-On" service will incur an additional cost, as it significantly impacts the entire story, plot, pacing, and character dynamics. If you wish to proceed with this change, we will provide you with a custom price quote and a revised turnaround time.  Incorporating a new character requires substantial work, including creating new scenes for interactions with existing characters to enhance the overall plot.

SCRIPT CONSULTING SERVICES - ANSWERING FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS

If you have any follow-up questions after receiving your rewritten script—whether it’s about specific scene edits, plot changes, or the reasoning behind creative decisions—these requests fall under script consulting. Answering even a single question often requires us to re-read your script, analyze specific scenes, and explain the rationale behind the edits made.

Since this type of service involves time and effort to ensure a detailed, thoughtful response, script consulting is not included in the original rewriting service. This is a separate service, and you will be charged additional fees based on the complexity and scope of the questions asked.

Examples of follow-up questions requiring script consulting service include:
  • "Why was this scene changed, and how does it improve the script?"
  • "Can you explain why a scene or dialogue was removed or modified?"
  • "How can I make the plot more engaging?"
  • "What was the reasoning behind the specific edits to the dialogue?"
Once you provide your follow-up questions, we will send you a price quote for the script consulting service, and upon agreement, an e-invoice will be issued before we begin working on your request.

Understanding Our Rewriting Services
Our screenplay rewriting service is designed to refine your work through multiple rounds. However, please note that the service you are purchasing includes only one round of rewriting. This is a one-time service.

If you require additional rounds of rewriting, each will need to be paid for separately. Screenplays, especially those aiming for perfection, require several rounds of edits to meet professional standards.

A movie studio typically takes years to perfect a screenplay, involving numerous rewrites with their writers. Therefore, it is unrealistic to expect a polished screenplay after just one round of rewriting service. The number of rounds required for your screenplay will depend on its current state, the extent of revisions needed, especially if your screenplay has a large cast of characters.

It is important to understand and remember that each additional round of rewriting will require separate payment. Think of it like taking your car in for an oil change: you wouldn’t expect to pay for just one oil change service and receive additional services for free.

Any further revisions or rounds of rewriting beyond the initial one will incur additional fees. These additional rounds are considered separate services and must be paid for in advance before any work is done.

In addition, please be aware that our screenplay rewriting service is distinct from script consulting. The rewriting service does not include free post-rewrite consultations or feedback. Script consulting is a separate service, and any additional work in this area will incur additional fees. Expecting free post-rewrite consulting is considered unethical.

Scripts Written in a Mix of Screenwriting and Novel Formats Will Require a Price Quote for Conversion to Proper Script Format
  • If we notice that the script needs formatting service, we will let you know and give you a price quote. From there, you can decide if you'd like to add formatting service to the rewriting service. Adding the formatting service will increase the turnaround time since correcting formatting errors will take additional time. All services are final and non-refundable.
  • Also, if you wrote your script like a novel, mostly telling rather than showing, and it lacks proper script format, we will inform you about the additional cost to completely rewrite the script and reformat it.
  • The rewriting service prices listed above are for those who already know how to present their stories in the correct screenwriting format.
  • If your script's format combines elements of screenwriting and novel writing, you should expect an added fee for the process of revamping and reformatting it.
  • If you choose to have your script revamped, expanded to feature film length, or reformatted, we will provide a price quote and send you an e-invoice for any additional services you select. Rewriting and replacing scenes that aren't in proper industry script format requires more time, so the more work the script needs, the higher the cost will be.
  • Before your script goes into pre-production or gets pitched to producers, we highly recommend that you purchase at least 2 rounds of rewriting.
  • It is the responsibility of the screenwriter to know how to properly format their screenplay. If you are unsure how to format your screenplay, please consider ordering our Script Formatting service as an add-on service. We can bundle services into one personalized e-invoice/payment link to email you.  Correcting an improperly formatted screenplay is a different service. It is additional work that takes up additional time.

Responsibility to Review Terms:  Please be advised that we are not a literary agency, and we cannot act as sales agents to sell scripts on your behalf. By browsing, accessing our site and using any of the services, you signify your agreement to our Terms and Conditions of Service. It is your responsibility to read our FAQ and Terms of Service. All custom work/personalized services such as script rewriting and editing are non-refundable.
