SCRIPT COVERAGE SERVICE FOR SERIOUS WRITERS AND FILMMAKERS

SCRIPT COVERAGE - SHORT FORM
$
118.00

Script coverage is a basic script report that contains a logline, simple rating grid, synopsis, brief comments about the story, and a pass/consider/recommend rating on the script and screenwriter. The script coverage service we offer here is a short form script coverage report. It doesn't include a synopsis -- but it comes with more script comments. Most of our clients prefer to get more comments, so this service is for those who want more than half a page of comments. Our clients include award-winning producers, writer-directors, and directors of movies and TV shows. Some have movies on Netflix.

If you're new to script coverage services, please know that when you purchase script coverage service, you're paying to have two things done -- a script reader evaluate your script and write you a script coverage report. Our script analysis services are designed for those who are already established in the industry, such as represented screenwriters and established producers and directors, who are accustomed to unfettered feedback. Therefore, if you are thick-skinned and looking for honest, no-holds-barred script feedback, our service is for you.

It's important to recognize that even if you come from a family of accomplished authors, screenwriting is not the same as writing novels. The two forms of writing require different skills, techniques, and approaches, and the rules of storytelling often vary. Screenwriting is a unique craft that demands a specific understanding of structure, pacing, and visual storytelling. Similarly, keep in mind that even if other third-party script readers like your script doesn't mean every reader will feel the same way. When you receive script coverage, you're getting a professional opinion on your script, and opinions can differ, especially when it comes to evaluating creative work.

Getting a professional opinion on your script is invaluable, and producers have praised us for our ability to spot weaknesses that other third-party script readers tend to overlook. This is because we take a thorough, in-depth approach to script analysis—we don’t skim through scripts like some of the other script readers out there do. We’re passionate about what we do. In fact, some of our clients, including newer screenwriters who consistently use our services, have secured deals with production companies led by award-winning producers and directors.

Our script readers won't take an easy approach or sugarcoat their feedback because the film and TV industry is incredibly competitive. In this environment, screenwriters need to have tough skin and be prepared to receive honest, direct feedback. Softening the truth with sugarcoating does a disservice to the writer. The reality is that when screenwriters are up against seasoned professionals, they must be able to handle unfettered script feedback to improve and refine their work. Coddling won't help them grow or meet the high standards of producers who are looking for scripts that are polished and engaging. To succeed, writers need to embrace the feedback and use it to enhance their craft, because competition is fierce and only the strongest scripts make it through.

Becoming skilled at screenwriting takes continuous effort, particularly when it comes to actively seeking feedback to enhance your scripts. All new screenwriters should aim to be evaluated at a high standard, not coddled with low expectations. Embrace candid script feedback to help you grow and refine your work. Our script feedback service is not for the faint of heart. If you're a new screenwriter, you need to be ready to compete with more seasoned screenwriters, and that means having thick skin. We don’t believe in coddling—soft criticisms won’t prepare you for the real world of screenwriting. Our goal is to challenge you, push your boundaries, and help you develop the resilience needed to succeed in a competitive industry. And sometimes that means delivering tough love instead of treating your script with kid gloves. Think of it like Olympic athletes—no gold medalist gets to the top without undergoing grueling training and receiving honest, sometimes tough feedback. They don’t get coddled or shielded from criticism because they know it’s the only way to improve. As a screenwriter, you’re training for your own kind of gold, and that means embracing the hard truths to sharpen your skills and compete at the highest level.

Also, if you are unfamiliar with the role of a script reader, please note that industry script readers are only responsible for reading your script and providing a coverage report. They cannot double up as screenwriting instructors or consultants -- and are not required to answer questions on the script or provide further explanations of their comments in the coverage report.

Any additional dialogue or in-depth analysis would fall under script consulting or screenwriting coaching services, requiring additional time, which is outside the scope of script coverage.

Therefore, the script reader's responsibilities do not extend to serving as a script consultant or conducting free Q&A sessions to further elaborate on the comments in the coverage. Once the script reader completes coverage on a script, they need to work on the next script in line to ensure that each script is completed promptly.

Est. Turnaround Time: 4-7 business days

What's included in our Script Coverage Report?

  • Rating Grid with Scores & Logline
  • Overall Comments: About 1-2 pages
  • Rating Scale of Pass, Consider, or Recommend

What is NOT included in the Script Coverage service? The script reader taking follow-up questions, providing further comments on the script/story or answering "what if" questions such as what if you changed certain aspects in the story, will you get a "consider" on your future script coverage.

Our Script Coverage service is mainly for producers, directors, literary managers, agents, and repped screenwriters with new scripts they want evaluated. We won’t treat your scripts with kid gloves. We’ll evaluate your scripts based on industry standards, not amateur standards.

We are the trusted source for producers, literary managers, agents, and directors to submit their scripts for an honest, confidential evaluation. If you want to gain an edge over your competition and create stronger films, get candid script coverage from us.

If you want detailed story development notes to help you brainstorm so you can do rewrites, then we suggest getting our Script Notes service. Producing a movie that can draw a huge audience is also an incredibly challenging task. Therefore, we will not treat your script with kid gloves. We will not sugarcoat words in our script coverage because we want you to operate above your potential.

We want to get you where you want to be sooner, not later. If you want to learn and grow as a screenwriter, nobody can stop you. If you are unwilling to get out of your comfort zone to hone your screenwriting skills, nobody can help you. Screenwriting requires a lot of rewriting, patience, and the willingness to get unfettered script feedback to help you refine your story.

Especially for novel book writers who are crossing over to screenwriting, keep in mind that novel book writing is not the same as screenwriting. You must know how to convey your story in proper industry script format. We will not go easy on your scripts because doing so will make you unprepared to compete with established film/TV writers in the industry.

We analyze scripts for clients worldwide. If the script you submit is not well-written, we will tell you the truth. Our script readers will be tough and honest. If you want to land a movie deal or get represented by a good literary agent, your scripts have to be firing on all cylinders.

  • Some of the Areas that we will focus on when Analyzing your Script: Do the characters serve the plot?
  • Do the scenes logically connect?
  • Are there ambiguous or confusing dialogue and narratives?
  • Are there many filler dialogue in the script?
  • Does the story come to a satisfying conclusion?

A skilled script reader must be able to read and analyze every scene, dialogue, and character in your script to determine the strengths and weaknesses in your story. Your script will be evaluated based on its dialogue, characterizations, structure, plot, and pacing.

The rating grid in our script coverage report will indicate the strength of each of those elements. This saves the producers and directors the time of having to read underdeveloped scripts. Producers have to answer to film investors.

Our script coverage report comes with comments, a rating grid with scores, and a logline -- one sentence that summarizes your story.

This script coverage service we offer is a fast, short form script coverage report. Our script coverage report is created for those who simply want a script coverage report that gives them more overall comments in lieu of a synopsis.

For those unfamiliar with the industry and script coverage services, please keep in mind that our professional feedback and opinions on your script are inherently subjective. Differences in perspective—whether from the customer, another script reader, or a third party—do not mean one reader is right and another is wrong. Lastly, we receive scripts worldwide. Our turnaround time is an estimate only and is subject to change. All script coverage services are non-refundable custom work.

For novelists crossing over to screenwriting, while having a family background in published authorship is impressive, it’s important to remember that screenwriting is a different craft from novel writing. Talent isn’t automatically passed down, and success in one medium doesn’t guarantee success in another. When receiving script coverage, please keep in mind that positive script feedback is based on the unique requirements of screenwriting, so it’s important to have realistic expectations about the comments in your script coverage.

CLlENTS' COMMENTS

"The script coverage was very valuable feedback." - I.P.

“You are the first person I have EVER sent my work to for a professional evaluation, and it has been
a great experience both times! Your insights are quite acute and helpful.” - Anthony J.

"The feedback was great & very useful in many ways." - B.K.

"Thanks for the pro and stellar script coverage and advice. You really got a good eye
for digging into the cinematic graphic novel value of this script." - Benjamin R.

Like in the industry, script coverage  does not come with follow-up question-and-answer session for the screenwriter to ask the reader questions about the coverage. After providing the coverage, the script reader has to work on the next script in line in order to meet deadlines.

  • If you want specific questions answered about your script, you should purchase "script consulting service" with us -- not script coverage. Just let us know and we can give you a price quote with a turnaround time that is based on the page count of your script and the number of questions you want answered. Once you agree with the price quote, we will email you an e-invoice to place your order.

Therefore, our script coverage service should not be confused with one-on -one "script consulting" service -- which is a separate service that you could purchase after receiving your script coverage -- if you have questions about your script or want comments from the coverage elaborated.

If you want to know in detail what you could do to enhance your script, consider getting our
Script Notes service instead. Or you could get "Script Consulting" service with our script doctor and ask questions about your script.

Script consulting service starts at $200, depending on the complexity of your story, script's page count, and how many pages of notes you want. We can provide you a price quote with the turnaround time if you are interested. Just ask us.
If you are new to screenwriting, please know that script coverage service comes with the script coverage report only. Our script coverage is limited to three pages of overall comments. It does NOT include a free question-and-answer session with the script reader as that would be "one-on-one script consulting" service.

Our script readers only focus on writing coverage. That's all they do. They are not available to perform out-of-scope work such as recommending new writers to agents or fielding questions to further comment and elaborate on any points made in the coverage.

Another important point to keep in mind is that even if you are a an unpublished or published novelist crossing over to screenwriting, it doesn't automatically mean you know how to write a screenplay. Screenwriting—the craft of writing for film and movie camera—is a completely different skill set from novel writing.

Therefore, please don't expect your script to receive glowing comments or a high score in our script coverage rating grid report, as novel writing skills don't directly translate to screenwriting skills.

Difference Between a Script Reader and a Script Consultant

  • Script Reader: A script reader reads/analyzes your script and provides feedback (either through coverage or detailed notes). Their service is usually a one-time review, and they don’t typically engage in follow-up consultations or rewrites. While they can offer detailed feedback in the form of script notes service, it's a limited, structured service. It’s important to note that our readers’ schedules are planned around multiple clients, and once they’ve completed your review, they must move on to other projects to meet project deadlines.
  • Our script readers are not available to answer follow-up questions about the script coverage or their comments about the script. It is not part of their role to double up as script consultants to provide ongoing script support. Script consultants are paid to provide "ongoing" script support to answer ongoing questions from the client. Script readers are only paid a one-time service to read the script and write a coverage report -- that's all they do. Script consultants provide "ongoing" script support, so their services are more expensive than script readers. When you get script coverage, you are getting a professional opinion of your script. You are not obligated to agree with our script assessment, as evaluating creative work inherently involves subjective opinions.
  • Similarly, no two readers will have the exact same comments about your script. Each reader has their own perspective and criteria when evaluating a script. For example, simply because three script readers like your script does not mean the fourth reader will have the same opinion about it. The fourth reader may be more strict and have higher expectations than the other readers.
  • The same applies to script consultants—they each have their own unique perspective, and their opinions on your script and storytelling skills can differ. Opinions can vary, as the fourth script consultant may have stricter standards or a different perspective than the previous consultants who reviewed your script.
  • How you choose to rewrite your script or which comments in the coverage you decide to incorporate is entirely up to you. The feedback we provide is meant to guide you, but the creative decisions are yours to make.
  • Script Consultant: A script consultant provides ongoing, more in-depth feedback and works with you throughout the development of your script. They are available for multiple consultations, rewrites, and advice on how to improve your script over time. Script consultants are typically more expensive than script readers because they offer continuous, hands-on support.

 How to Avoid Scope Creep

Scope creep sometimes happens with those who are new to the industry, such as beginner screenwriters or fledgling filmmakers, who may not fully understand the boundaries of our Script Coverage services. It occurs when, after you receive your script coverage (once the service has been rendered to you), you expect the reader to answer follow-up questions—such as clarifying or elaborating on comments in the coverage. The script coverage is limited to a few pages of comments only. This goes beyond the scope of the script coverage service, which is limited to reading, analyzing, and writing a coverage report. We cannot use time reserved for another client’s project to provide post-coverage discussions or free script consulting, such as answering follow-up questions or elaborating on the coverage. The coverage is a concise, focused report—provided as a one-time service. It does not include unlimited post-coverage consultations, script discussions, or screenwriting coaching. These services are separate and require additional time and payment, as they have their own turnaround times and involve more in-depth work.

SCREENWRITING VS. NOVEL WRITING

Our Script Coverage Team

Our script coverage team consists of script readers who have written coverage for companies such as AMC Programming, Cota Films LLC, ICM, Sheree Guitar Entertainment, and APA. Our script readers have strong story analytical skills.  Our script readers have written coverage for reputable literary agents and producers. If your script has a meandering storyline, we will bring it to your attention. With our script coverage services and any of our services that involve evaluating creative materials, please know that we cannot simply give your script a high score or praise your storytelling skills simply because you come from a family of writers, as that would be a biased approach. We evaluate the script itself -- not your family’s credentials.

We are very thorough when it comes to vetting script readers to determine if they are qualified to join our team. In order to join our script coverage team, among other requirements, prospective script readers  must first pass our script coverage test and provide us with three industry references from film/TV executives such as vice presidents of production companies and executives at studios or literary agencies. We test the script readers, and we only select the top script readers. They must have strong story analytical skills. In the industry, script readers help screen out poorly written scripts for production companies, literary managers, agents, and filmmakers.

In order to join out script coverage team, all of our script readers have to pass our script coverage test and provide verifiable glowing recommendations from industry professionals such as Executive Producers, Directors of Development, and Creative Executives from A-list film and TV production companies, literary agencies, or literary management companies.
If you want to get candid and useful script feedback, submit your scripts to us for coverage or script notes. Below  are  some of the testimonials from  our many clients. More can be found on the script coverage page.

We work with clients worldwide. If you are an indie filmmaker planning to pitch your script to film investors to get funding, don't hastily put together a lookbook to sway film investors to fund your script project without first knowing if your script needs another round of rewriting.

Investing in a film costs investors millions of dollars. Let our script readers analyze your script(s) first and save your investors the agony of spending tens of millions of dollars making a film that ends up being a box-office flop. No amount of special effects on the movie screen can hold the audience's attention longer than a well-told story.

So, get your script analyzed with us and find out if your script needs additional rewriting before you pitch it to literary agents, producers, or investors. We will give you unfettered script feedback -- just the way it is in the film/TV industry.

Disclaimer:  Please be advised that we are not a literary agency, and we cannot act as sales agents to sell scripts on your behalf.
